Projects are temporary in nature, have definite start an end date, and usually a budget, Produce a unique product, Services or result:
- A Product: Component of another item or end item.
- A Service: Business function to support production or logistics.
- A Result: An outcome or document such as R&D project develops knowledge, Market survey.
Project is usually deemed to be a success if it achieves the objectives according to their acceptance criteria, within an agreed timescale and budget. Time, cost and quality are the building blocks of every project.
- Time: scheduling is a collection of techniques used to develop and present schedules that show when work will be performed.
- Cost: how are necessary funds acquired and finances managed?
- Quality: assure how fitness for purpose of the deliverables and management processes will.
The Differences between Project, Program and Operation:
Project:
- Is a Temporary in nature has a definitive start and end dates.
- Produce a unique product, Service or result.
- The Purpose of a project is to attain its objective and then terminate.
Program:
- A group of related projects are managed using the same techniques.
- Each Sub-project has its own manager with special goals.
Operation:
- Operation is ongoing and repetitive without an ending date.
- The Purpose of an ongoing operation is to sustain the business.
- Operations adopt new set of objectives, and the work continues.
Project Characteristics
- Unique Product, Service or Result.
- Definite Starting and Ending Dates.
- Projects completed when its goals and objectives are achieved, or it has determined the project is no longer available.
- The successful project is one that meet or exceeds the expectations of your stakeholders.
Project Challenges
There are always challenges called “Project Constrains.”
- Time.
- Budget.
- Quality.
- Customer Satisfaction.
- Scope.
- Risk.
Below every stage, you see the main outputs. These are the main deliverables to be done at each stage. We will include other, minor deliverables as we proceed in our Project.
Project Life Cycle
1. Initiating Process:This Process performed to define a new project or a new phase of an existing project, grants approvals to commit the human resources that will work on it.
The output of the initiating process are project charter and project identification of stakeholders.
2. Planning Process:- Formulating and revising project goals and objectives.
- Creating management Action Plan.
- Use initiating process outputs to state stakeholder's role.
- Putting the project plan into action, while management coordinate and direct all resources to meet the plan main objectives.
- Ensure that all executing actions stay in line with the main objectives.
- Track, review and regulate the progress and project performance analyzed.
- Identify Problems as soon as possible and apply corrective actions or required changes.
- Control functional area to assure successful outcomes.
Finalize all activities across the process to formally close the projects after meet all the objective at the end of the determined time.
